A Value Added Services are something extra you provide to your internet viewers.   For example if your business was a record store you could have a section on your web site where your customers could keep track of their own record, or CD collections.  Your customers could login, view what albums they owned, and then be able to add, edit or delete their albums from their collection list, depending on whether they were bought sold or traded.  As a value added service, this becomes a free service for the public, but at the same time becomes a source of exposure for the record store.  All of your customers will keep coming back to the web site time and time again where they can be exposed to specials, feature or sales each time they login to view their collection.

In a nutshell a Value Added Service is something you provide that your competition doesn’t.  It can be a one time service but ideally is something that keeps viewers coming back to your web site.  Your value added service can be available to only existing customers, or perhaps you may want to make it available to anyone.  Your value added service can serve a useful purpose to your clients such as an order tracking system, or it could be something fun to be used as a pre-sales attraction, such as a design your own birthday cake that a bakery might use.  Your value added service may be just some extra information that no body else provides.  If you are bicycle store you may want to provide safety information for kids or perhaps maps to local riding trails, even a small do-it-yourself bicycle maintenance checklist.

Show your customers that you go above and beyond by providing a value added service for them.  Whether it’s a simple or complex solution, your goal should be to keep your viewers coming back to your site before, during and after the sale.
